Assessing Culture

Employee engagement is a critical element of creating a culture that supports innovation - for any purpose. Jackson & Schmidt's approach to assessing organizational culture includes employee engagement, but focuses on a broader, strategic approach that shows how your culture is driving business performance.

We use the validated, research-based Denison Organizational Culture Survey (DOCS) and the related Leadership Survey to measure and target specific areas of improvement in an organization’s culture and link it directly to their most critical performance factors and business outcomes:

  • Return on Equity, ROA, ROI
  • Sales Growth and Market Value
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Innovation
  • Employee satisfaction
  • Quality

The DOCS offers three major benefits in assessing and tracking culture - including employee engagement - and how well your culture aligns with efforts at managing change:

  1. It measures directly how culture drives important business outcomes such as profitability, customer satisfaction, return on equity, shareholder value, sales growth, innovation, employee satisfaction, and more.
  2. It is a “normed” against industry benchmarks of over 3,000 companies in the DOCS database
  3. The model and debrief is provided in language that is business-oriented (not psychologically oriented) so everyone from the call center to the CEO can relate to it.
